![]() One use per day is investing a valuable feat into something that's just a weaker Action Surge. Fireball + Cantrip, blade cantrip + attack, getting a buff like faerie fire and then utilizing it in the same turn. Quickened is really good when you can chain-use it. That kind of thing can help with trust! Why should I trust you, the cleric? Well I saved your life 20 minutes ago that might be a good reason! Meaning very quickly in a D&D group you all unequivocally owe each other your lives. And if you'd fought those fights without any one of them there you'd have all died. Meaning it's very likely that if everyone else fought those fights without you there, they'd all have died. The other thing is the DM probably balanced the combat roughly around your number of players. I would also say for most D&D groups especially if you're having 6-8 combats a day, you're risking death 6 times in one day and these guys had your back and didn't run. Or if you think of something in the moment you tell them about it afterwards. You can also use it to build trust in terms of hey guys I'm going to subtly cast this spell when we get into the meeting to detect evil creatures and if I do this signal that means I found something. And getting past that distrust builds more trust than never having that moment. That can make for a really interesting roleplaying scene if someone's worried you'll do something to them secretly, especially a martial character who theoretically wouldn't understand magic and what your capabilities are. But I wouldn't shy away from those trust discussions and something like this that might strain that trust but won't break it. Quickened spell costs 2 sorcery points and I'm not sure how often I'll have 2 sorcery points with my plan to cast extended aid alot of the time. With my sanctuary I would hope people stay within 30ft most of the time anyway. ![]() Times where using subtle spell will be helpful I feel will be very rare.ĭistant spell seams a little niche aswell. Quickened spell means I can cast my concentration spell on the first round of combat as well as activate my twilight sanctuary. I can use subtle spell to cast 1 maybe 2 more spells if I find myself unable to speak or move my hands.ĭistant spell means I can bless everyone in those times people run out of my range We are also using wild magic surge tables for when a natural 1 is rolled on an attack roll on a spell so there is a tiny chance I can be unable to speak to cast spells at some point in the game. In our party is a high elf blade singer, half elf battle master fighter and a dragon born storm barbarian. We have 6-8 encounters per adventuring day with about 2 short rest. I chose extended spell specifically for aid and I have 1 more option left. I've taken meta magic adept instead of asi. So I'm making a high elf twilight cleric at lvl 4.
